A.Dear Client,
Section 194A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 governs the deduction of tax at source (TDS) on interest payments on investments other than interest on securities. The details of interest income on post office NSC or KVP and TDS for the respective financial year appear on both AIS and Form-26AS(ATS) of the Assessee and are available online from the official website of the Income Tax Deptt.

A.Dear client,
You can show the NSC interest earned under the 'Income from Other Sources' head in your Income Tax Return (ITR). However, NSC interest is reinvested in the first four years, and therefore, it can be claimed as a deduction under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.
Post offices are required to report NSC interest income in the AIS, ensuring its inclusion for tax filing purposes.
