Neighbors spreading rumors

My neighbors recorded my family's conversation while we were arguing and framed it in such a way that we mistreated elderly. Its been 18 years we live as a family of 6 (Including senior citizen) and never have ever mistreated them. This recording has tarnished our reputation in friends and family. Can I file a case?
