A.Dear Client,
Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, it is a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at the pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably. Lok Adalats have been given statutory status under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Lok Adalat basically deals with civil matters and has the power to issue summons for appearance for early settlement of the pending case in regular civil court and not for litigation purposes which is already going on in the regular civil court proceedings. Failure to attend when summoned by Lok Adalat may result in consequences such as the issuance of a warrant for your arrest or a judgment may be passed ex-parte against you.

A.Dear Client,
In the situation you've described, it's important to communicate with the lender about your circumstances and the challenges you're facing due to medical issues. Requesting an extension or restructuring of the loan is a reasonable approach, especially given your willingness to continue repaying the principal amount through EMIs. If the lender is unwilling to accommodate this, consider putting your request in writing to them. Attend the Lok Adalat if you can, as non-attendance may result in a decision being made in your absence. In the Lok Adalat, there could be an opportunity for mediation and resolution. If you continue to face difficulties, seeking advice from a financial counselor or legal professional may be helpful in understanding your rights and options. Keep all communication documented, and strive to find an amicable solution that works for both parties involved.
Thankyou
