In Government Polytechnics, the lecturers teaching English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry with qualifications M.Sc/M.A. are placed in a department called FIRST YEAR DEPARTMENT. Eventhough these subjects are part of curriculum of Diploma courses, they are not given the post of HOD. The Diploma course consists of three years. HOD post is given for the lecturers teaching engineering subjects with B.E qualification. Out of the three years in a diploma course, HOD is given for teaching staffs supervising only two years(second and third year). The First year of all the diploma course is supervised by the department called FIRST YEAR DEPARTMENT. In any College other than Polytechnics, HOD is given for the staff who supervises the whole course( Ex: In Arts College, the 3 years of the degree course). In polytechnics, the lecturers teaching English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry are not placed in any of the departments of the Polytechnic. On one hand, these first year faculties are left departmentless. On the other hand, the faculties with B.E. qualification are enjoying the post HOD only by supervising 2/3 of the diploma course. Also while getting AICTE approval for the polytechnics, the first year faculties are shown in the Engineering departments. The data submitted to the AICTE and the real condition prevailing in the Govt polytechnic colleges are contradictory. How to rectify the issue and rectify the injustice to the teaching staffs teaching English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry?

A.Dear Client,

Government Polytechnic colleges operate with approval and affiliation from the state-specific Council of Technical Education. AICTE approves diploma-level institutions, including polytechnics, for offering courses to working professionals. Both the state-specific Council of Technical Education and AICTE regulate various technical, non-technical, and conventional courses in India. If you have a grievance, you can raise it online with these authorities. If the issue remains unresolved, filing a writ petition before the High Court is a recourse for seeking appropriate relief.
