A.Dear Client,

As per the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India Office Memo dated August 2, 2022, a government servant retired on medical grounds before the age of 55 (or 57 for Group 'D') is eligible to apply for compassionate appointment for a dependent family member, including spouse, son, daughter, brother, or sister. The application is to be submitted to the competent authority, such as the Joint Secretary, Head of Department, or Secretary, depending on the case. Compassionate appointments are for Group 'C' or 'D' posts under the direct recruitment quota, with eligibility criteria including indigence and suitability for the post. Age limits may be relaxed when necessary. Appointments are made only on a regular basis and subject to availability of vacancies meant for compassionate appointments. Complete details and application procedures are available on the DOPT's official website for interested parties to follow.
