I am a government servent under assam government. I wanted to know if it is legal to do any business continuing a state government permanent service? Also myself being a structural engineer i want to do design as well as execution of civil structures along with my state government job. Is it legal to do a business / private work being a government job holder.?

You are 24x7 Government Servant as such you cannot do any business in your name. If married do such business in the name of your wife, if unmarried in the name of your parents.
