Immediately file a police complaint against them. If the police is not supporting you then go to the Cyber cell as they are calling you and are using abusive language and file a complaint against them and ask them to take action immediately. If this also not worked then you can file a case of mental harassment against them and also ask for the damages.

You can file a case at a nearby police station, but this may bring out serious situations to face.
I will suggest you to talk ti the owners in a humble way and solve the matter because at the end they are neighbors who helps us difficult time.

You can write a letter to them and it will be there decisions to Waive of the money or not. It may can create you a trouble or they may grant you the permission for non-payment of amount. They can also file a suit against you regarding this. Ask any employer of your company regarding this.

It is basically an E- Contract which is a valid contract. If it is a scam and they had done misrepresentation, fraud or concealment of facts etc. then you can ask the court for the damages by filing a suit inthe civil court.
