Unfortunately, I have taken a flat on rent last year with such a landlord, who delayed things which we mutually agreed before paying security deposit. It was a pain coming to the office after agreement saying that we have to pay 1 month rent as a deduction even if we leave house immediately. We thought why to waste money and continued to stay, landlord also provided some fittings as agreed after lot of follow up. Things were all fine till agreement was due for renewal after 11 months. Agreement got expired and immediately next day landlord called up for increment which was 10%, I didn't agree and gave notice to him within a week. Now, in the situation of lockdown he kept my complete security deposit and when we were fully frustated with him, told him to take stern action , then he came for inspection and gave money , deducting 43000 out of 1 lakh 10 thousand. First place , he mentally harassed for over a month taking advantage of lockdown and secondly he deducted huge amount. Please advice.
