Sir, my friend's name is Shashank Gupta but he belongs to ST community and he has no documentation of name change as he has surname gupta from beginning while his father doesn't use any surname, as he is going to apper for public service commission, will it create any problem in it.He has all the documents of his caste with him, what should he do. He is very worried about the issue and want a genuine way out as he genuinely belongs to ST category

A.I have gone through your query in detail.
1) As your friend Mr. Shashank Gupta belongs to ST community genuinely and originally as he has the required caste certificate for the same.
2) But in case if there is change in the name make sure you make the “Gazette” copy of Name Change, otherwise this NEW NAME shall automatically become invalid as it will not coincide with the caste certificate & Degree Certificate and this “Gazette” document it is the only proof which is accepted in all government departments including passport office for change of name.
3) Along with the caste certificate of ST new regulation of caste validity certificate has also come…n so kindly update for the same also it will require aleast 45 days for the Validity Certificate to be issued & 15 days for the Name Change “Gazette” copy.
4) As he is applying for all the important Government exams he should have all the documents in order so that he is not disqualified just because of his unavailability of documents.
