Hi Sir, My Grandma had two daughters, Grandpa is no more now. 1.My Mother(Elder One) 2.My Aunt (Younger one). A Property which it is 12cents Residential plot, In Patta name Like ( My Grandpa Name Wife My Grandma name. My Grandma had this property after expiry of My Grandpa. Now My Query is My Grandma is willing to register this property to my Mother. is it legally right. In Future my aunt raised any legal issues againt us. Clarrify Me. Regards, Vignesh

if the property is self- acquired property, then your grandmother can transfer the property to your mother without any dispute.

A.Hi,
If the property is self-acquired property, then the owner can transfer the property according to his/her wish.
However, if the property is ancestral, then the property is to be distributed equally among all the children.
