My husband died and now my mother in law threatens me to kill herself or kill me Or file a false complain to ruin me and ruin my sons career also the house is not on my or my sons name she also wants to throw us out what should I do
A.Hi,
I'd advise you make a report to the police immediately. You can seek protection under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and also under S.498-A of the IPC, which deals with cruelty.
With regard to the house, you shall have to look into whether your husband made a will in this regard. Your son and you are both your late husband's rightful legal heirs, but so is his mother. She does not have a very good chance of throwing you out as you have just as much right to claim the house.
