Money not returned by wife's brother even after 01 year

As per verbal request from my wife's brother , I gave 50,000/- to him through internet banking transfer in August 2019. However, till now he did not return my money and he is also not responding to my mobile calls . Also, due to family disputes I have lodged divorce petition against wife .
Shall I lodge written complaint at police station for economic fraud against wife's brother for getting my 50,000/- back ?
A.Hi,
Yes, you can do that. But it would be better to sort the issue non-judicially as it is your own brother's wife. You can try arbitration or mediation.
If you must, you can recover your money by filing a civil suit for money recovery.

If the monetary dispute is borne out of crime, it needs police intervention and filing of an FIR. However mere default in repayment of money borrowed will not attach any criminality. If cheating, misappropriation is established, then you could approach the police for registering an FIR. So in your case, if you have the proof of the internet transaction dated back August 2019,. you can proceed to lodge a complaint at the police station.
