case against my grandfather for my mom jewallry after the marriage of 25 years ?

my mom jewallry is taken by my grandfather since the marriage of my mom. now he denied to have any jewallry and actully he not wanted to give us jewellry to us. so can i file a case against the my grandfaher for my mom jewellry .

You can lodge complaint under Section 406 of Indian Penal Code. It is a streedhana and your grandfather has no right to retain such jewelry with him. If you go for civil case it may be delayed.

A.After giving notice to your grandfather to return all the Streedhan of your mother within a time period of 30 days,if he doesn't return those jewellery, then your mom is entitled to file case before the Magistrate Court under Section 406 of the Indian Penal Code,1860,as amended up to date against your grandfather on the ground of Criminal Breach of Trust for unlawfully withholding her Streedhan for last 25 years and due to refusal on his part to return all her Streedhan which includes precious jewellery.
Please take note that if your Grandfather fails / refuses to return the Jewellery of your mother,then the Magistrate Court shall punish him with imprisonment and fine.
