A.Hello Sir/Ma'am
To claim the account of a deceased person,
the surviving account holder will have to submit a written application informing about the death of account holder to the bank along with the copy of death certificate and copy of ID proof of the deceased. The copy of ID proof of the deceased account holder will be self-attested by the surviving account holder.

A.Even if your guardian has lost the receipt how is it possible that your guardian doesn't know anything about the FD?? It is possible that there may be some foul play. You are suggested to file an RTI in respect of the bank pertaining to the Accounts and FD information in respect of your father at his bank and at your bank as well. Thank you.

A.Hello Sir
It would be advised to first find out on whose mame the Fixed Deposit was created and who is the nominee of that Fixed Deposit. Although, you could approach the bank with your father's death certificate and his bank account no. To transfer all his account in your name.
