Refusal to Marry
My mother had seen a girl for me thru a relative for my arranged marriage. On pressure from the girl's family, both families performed a simple ashirwaad ceremony, without any other legal/social marriage formalities. After 2 months of communication with the girl, I found out that she is not suitable to be my life partner and also after feedback from relatives made me believe she is not worth being my wife, due to which I wanted to break this proposed marriage. After communicating to the girl's family that we do not want to continue further, the girl tried to commit suicide and consequently they threatened me with dire consequences about breaking the marriage. Now I have filed a GD at a police station against the girl's family for my safety, because they are trying to force me into marrying their daughter.
You have a fundamental right to choose and decide. There is no marriage that has happened in your case and even if it did it would not be considered as the consent is forced. As you have filed a GD at the police station for your safety, you don't have to worry. Also, if you have proof about the attempt to suicide then it is recommended to submit them to the police station as it is an offence under the Indian Penal Code.
Thank you.
A.Dear Sir,
If you are not married her and only engagement has happened then you can break the marriage by giving them some compensation if necessary to avoid ugly situations.
