Landlord not paying security deposit.

We paid our apartment owner 26,000 as a security deposit. We needed only two months of stay. We left the city after two months and paid all our dues. We don't have any agreement or anything signed. Now our landlord is taking time to repay us. We only received 8,000 so far and it took us 8 months. The apartment owner is asking us for more time and it's almost a year.

A.As there is no rental agreement signed and probably you gave only verbal notice before vacating. Now immediately give written notice to owner mentioning your verbal notice of vacating given earlier and claiming the advance amount, mention the amount paid already and remaining amount due by owner. Ask the owner to return money within 7 days from the notice received. You can seek lawyer help to draft strong written notice or you can send legal notice from lawyer.
If the money is not paid still, you can file money suit for recovery of advance with interest and cost.
