Surname change and marraige registration certificate
2 years ago
We got married in 2015 and our marraige was registered through Hindu Marraige Act. In the marraige certificate, my name is mentioned in the following format as per our marraige registrar:
First name Husbands surname (my maiden surname)
I have not taken up my inlaws surname after marraige nor do I wish to. All my documents and child's birth certificate has my maiden surname in them.
Will this difference cause a problem later on?
A.Dear client,
It will not cause a problem later on. You are not mandated by law to have the same surname as your husband. Having your first husband's surname and it being on all of your documents is also not an issue as that is your legal name.
Thank you.
