Reservation in government job
I belong to Barnwal caste(under Baniya) which comes under OBC in my state Bihar but central government consider it in general category(check - Deepti Barnwal vs The State Of Bihar & Ors , 2018) . As I am under general category for central govt., I should be able to get Economic Weaker Section benefit while applying for a job under central government(UPSC etc.). But while applying for it in my block, officials are saying I am not eligible for it as under state govt. I am already under OBC. So, am I eligible for an E.W.S reservation under central govt. or not?
A.Dear Client.
This a quite a typical scenario and it is suggested that you apply for the EWS status with the central government. If you get it then take all the benefits under it and if not then file a writ petition in the Patna High Court to challenge this.
