Criminal defamation case query

What are the steps involved in filing criminal defamation case? My lawyer has helped me in getting all documents in place which are to be submitted to court. Criminal court has accepted my papers and only provided a date to appear before court. No Case Number or any other ack for giving case papers. Can someone please clarify whats it means and whats expected from me on the date given. Unfortunately not getting proper answers from lawyer
A.Dear client, Criminal defamation means lodging an FIR against the concerned person for maligning your image and the same will not make you liable to get any compensation.
Also, note the filing a civil case for defamation and claiming damages will get you compensation. The same will be filed in the civil court of competent jurisdiction, you may claim any amount that you deem fir there is no formula for the same.
