Old salary claim

Can I claim salaries due from January 1979 from my employer Bank when the Bank's doctor has recommended medical leave, but Bank has neither sanctioned the leave nor paid salaries. I got the copy of the Certificate in 2014 through RTI and requested for payment. No reply received. Could I take legal action? I am 85 yers old and not able to move out.
