What legal action is possible to be taken on BBMP? What legal action is possible to be taken on BBMP?

Just for information, BBMP is the municipal corporation of Bangalore. It is almost openly known that this body is corrupt. Right from horrible roads (potholes, encroached or non existent footpaths), to water and monsoon response, to garbage management — everything is a mess. There is enough evidence to suggest that tax payer money is being wasted and not put to good use. There's absolutely no transparency or accountability involved here. Roads get dug up every few weeks, waterlogging and constant flooding, lakes and footpaths are encroached and there is no action taken. Multiple contractors have openly spoken about the corruption. BBMP has lied in the court multiple times about infrastructure.

I'm considering filing a PIL. Is this a good idea or strong enough to get BBMP to be more accountable and courts to consider this serious? Are there any other alternatives to consider to handle this? Have there been any instances of a municipal body being sued for inaction?

A.Dear Client,

When a matter affects common interest and amenities of general public, filing of a PIL against the Civic Authority (BBM) before the High Court is a right option to get the mass complaint resolved.

Reach out to an Advocate for guidance and steps. You can also contact and consult with a Social Service Organization/NGO who are engaged in solving such kind of social issues for a better resolution
in this regard.

A.Dear Sir,
Your thought is laudable. You may select a reputed advocate who had filed number of PIL’s. You may succeed to get a direction to BBMP in respect of its irresponsibility to maintain roads, sanitary etc.
