Hi I am residing in Gujrat and I am getting married next week in Maharashtra. I have recently shifted to my new house in gujrat but the dox required for court marriage has been submitted 2 months back almost when I was residing at my old owners house now they are not giving me my true copy or the original agreement which I would be needing on the day of my court marriage. I just have the pdf of the agreement can I do a notary in Maharashtra.? Will that work for the marriage document??
A.Dear Client,
For registration of marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or Special Marriage Act, 1954, in the state of Maharashtra, the following documents are required like prescribed Marriage Application form, an Affidavit of the couple is needed in which the place of marriage occurred including the details of marriage date, marital status and nationality, Passport size photos and photograph of a marriage invitation card, if any and Residencial proof of the Applicant. In the absence of the original rent agreement, you need to ask the concerned Marriage Officer whether notarised pdf copy of the agreement is acceptable for the purpose or not and do the needful according to the advice of the Authority. None other than the concerned authority can properly guide you in the matter. So reach out to the Office of the Marriage Officer for necessary clarification in the matter.
