Defamation - taken into custody by the police

After a school friend of mine was taken into custody by the police from my gym my other school friends in my whats app group asked me why he was taken into custody so i told them about the case that he was harassing a girl and blackmailing to stay with him or else he will leak nudes as this was told to me from my another friend who was close to the girl my school friend was harassing i told these in my whats app group and now my school friend is filing a fir against me for defamtion what can i do please help me as i was not spreading false information the story was told to me by my another friend
