It has been 1 year that we have been married. Me and my husband we both are engineers. My husband has bought a flat in Bangalore in his name and there are loan documents to prove the property is fully owned by my husband. Me and my husband we have good relation but my father in law along with his daughter are mentally torturing us so that I leave the house and they can own my husband property. My father in law is fully dependent on us for everything still he daily picks up fight with us and his daughter and son in law also joins him. They call my husband and are telling that he should ask my parents to give 5 lacs so that his sister can take house on lease. Me and my husband are mentally harassed everyday from my Father-in-law, his daughter and his son-in-law. Please let me know how we can legally take it ahead.

A.Dear Client,
Verify the property's ownership status. If the property is solely in your husband's name and there are loan documents to prove his ownership, then legally, it's his property. If your father-in-law and sister-in-law are harassing or threatening you, you can consider seeking a restraining order against them. Your lawyer can help you with this process. Maintain records of any harassment, threats, or disputes, including phone call records, text messages, or any other evidence that may be useful in a legal case. If your father-in-law is financially dependent on you and your husband, you can explore legal ways to provide for his basic needs without surrendering the property. To safeguard your property's future, consider creating a will or other legal documents specifying how the property should be managed or inherited in the event of your husband's passing. If the harassment becomes severe, report it to the local police. They may be able to take action to protect your safety.
