legal consequences for the offense of bigamy (marrying someone while already legally married to another person) can include imprisonment and/or a fine, as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC) under Section 494 and Section 495. The severity of the punishment can vary based on the specific circumstances of the case and the evidence presented.

Section 494 of the Indian Penal Code deals with the offense of bigamy and prescribes punishment for individuals who marry again during the lifetime of their spouse. The punishment can extend to imprisonment for up to 7 years and a fine. Additionally, Section 495 deals with the offense of marrying again during the lifetime of the former husband or wife, which can result in a punishment of up to 7 years of imprisonment and a fine.
