A.Dear Client,
Educational activity or service rendered by the University/educational institutes on receipt of fees or charges comes under the purview of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Students are direct consumers or beneficiaries of the service or facility provided by universities/educational institutes. The exemption of the University/educational institutes from the scope of the Act will convert the educational into a business sector. Being a student you should first approach writing to your educational institution for a refund of of tuition fees on cancellation of course, if it is refundable by the policy of the institute endorsing a copy to the higher authority. If no positive response is received from any corner, they you may file a complaint against the educational institution for deficiency in service or unfair trade practice under Sec.35 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 claiming a refund of Tuition fees and compensation for harassment. You are required to file the complaint before the Dist. Consumer Commission within TWO YEARS from the date of cause of action i.e, the date of denial of your claim. Reach out to an Advocate for guidance and steps.

A.Dear Client
If you have paid for a service and then decided to cancel it shortly afterward, it is reasonable to expect a refund, especially if the cancellation occurred within a short period after the payment. The institute should ideally have a clear refund policy in place that outlines the terms and conditions for such situations. In this case, you should communicate with the institute in writing, clearly explaining the sequence of events, including the payment, the subsequent cancellation, and your request for a refund. Emphasize that the cancellation was made immediately after the payment and that you are within your rights to receive a refund based on their refund policy.
