A.Dear Client,
In Odisha, the government has created a land bank of around 26,000 acres for compensatory afforestation (CA) across the state. This land bank is intended to facilitate the smooth implementation of critical state and central projects requiring the diversion of forests. The decision to create the compensatory afforestation land bank was taken as the Centre has made it mandatory while approving proposals for de-reservation or diversion of forest land for non-forest uses under the provisions of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980. The compensatory afforestation plan must be approved by the Odisha government before it can be implemented. The Odisha government will also monitor the progress of the plan and will take action if the plan is not being implemented satisfactorily.
