A.Dear Client,
After amendments were made in 2005 to the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, women/daughters were given the same right as that of a son to both ancestral and self-acquired property of their parent irrespective of their marital status and the Act is applicable in all states across the country except the state of J & K. A son-in-law, i.e, the husband of your sister has no right to claim a share in the property of his parent-in-law, but your married sister can claim an equal share in the property of her parents or the proceeds arising out of the selling of the property.

A.Dear Client,
In general, a sister does not have a direct legal claim on her father's property after marriage, and her husband also does not have a legal right to demand a percentage from the selling amount of her brother's property. Property rights are typically determined by inheritance laws and the legal heirs mentioned in a person's will, if available. However, cultural and family dynamics can sometimes lead to informal agreements or expectations. It's advisable to consult with a local legal professional who can provide guidance based on specific family and property laws in Assam, considering any cultural nuances that may affect the situation.
Thankyou
