Random chat application
I used a random chat application where wwe can start chatting anonymously to different people. I first set gender as male in account settings but was getting all messages from scammers to invest money here and there or meassges from girls sharing telegram id for paid sexting.
Then I updated settings and showed profile as female profile, suddenly there were hundreds of messges from guys talking only about sexting. Just for fun I replied to a guy agreeing for sexting but in exchange of 50 rupees. I shared QR of my salary account which I rarely use for any transaction. This account has 10 rupees. Moreover, it was more likely a prank, coz when the guy scan my QR, my name wud pop up and he wud never send me money. That was a prank. But the guy then threatened to report on cyber portal. I have currently blocked all UPI transactions in that bank account.
Is there anything for me to worry.
Since the application holds anonymous chats, so I really don't know that guy's name.
While engaging in such interactions online, especially anonymous chat applications, can be risky, it's important to understand that sharing a QR code with a minimal amount for what seems like a prank might not necessarily have severe consequences. Blocking UPI transactions on the concerned account was a prudent step to ensure no unauthorized transactions take place.
However, it's crucial to be cautious about engaging in any form of financial exchange with strangers online, even if it's meant as a prank. In case the person proceeds to report the incident to a cyber portal, the authorities would likely investigate, and having a record of your actions can be useful. If you have kept the chat logs or any evidence that supports the context and nature of the conversation, it might be helpful.
Going forward, exercise caution while participating in online interactions, especially those involving financial elements. Always prioritize your safety and be wary of potential scams or threats. If the situation escalates or if you receive any legal notices, consider seeking advice from a legal professional to understand the best course of action based on your specific circumstances.
Thankyou
