Sir I am a retired soldier from navy. I was interested to marry my younger sister with a naval soldier. Their family demanded 9 lakh rupees and one Bike. I paid 970000 rupees. On 21 Feb engagement was done. But soon after engagement boy and his family quarreled with for bigger ring and a gold chain. Boy run away from the place and called me saying that he will not marry my sister View ring and chain. I told whether you marry or not I am not going to feed your greed. After few days he asked me my account number to return my money but his parents told me that he will marry my sister soon after fulfilling his demands. My sister told me that she will not marry to the boy who doesn't have any respect for her. So I gave my account number to them but they insisted me for marriage but I denied. They are not returning my money. What should I do now.

You can also add sections like 420 IPC , 406 IPC etc.
You should immediately lodge an F.I.R against them. In the first place, you should not have given them anything but now as things are you should definitely take action against them. Also, write a letter to higher authority in the Navy against the person.

Dowry practice isn't legal . You should have rejected the marriage proposal the day, they had demanded the dowry. As for now, no question of getting your sister married with the guy arises.
Immediately lodge an F.I.R. against the whole family claiming about your money and harassment being caused to you and your family.

You may lodge a police complaint and lodge a complaint with higher officers in naval department against him . It is a serious offence .

Sir, in the instance you may lodge a police complaint along with the acknowledgement of money that you had gave to the other party for performing of marriage. Next you file a case under the dowry prohibition in the court.
