Domestic violence Domestic violence

Before wedding, it was informed to me & family that he is an economics graduate, but recently found out that he is a 10th pass. Similarly, his brother and mother called up my mother and told her to teach me to behave else they'll beat me up (March 2019). After 3 month's from this incident my father committed suicide (July 2019). We didn't lodge any complaint against them. But after all the rituals, when I returned back to the house, my husband started torturing me saying that I killed my father. This has been going on since 2 years. He has taken a lot of money from me since marriage. In 2019, he decided to buy a car and asked me for my gold jewellery. When I refused to give, he threatened me severe consequences and since then he has been spending all his money on alcohol and pays nothing towards household expenses. Apart from this, he comes home drunk & beats me up saying I don't give him food or water. He locked me inside the room but set me free after a minute since the child started to cry. I have now given a petition for domestic violence. He is presently admitted to a de-addiction centre. He'll complete his 21-day treatment soon and will be back by Mar 7, 2021 after which the enquiry is supposed to start. Can you help me with how can I go through with this petition?

A.Hi,
File for divorce due to cruelty under Section 498A IPC. You can then claim maintenance from him without having to suffer from his abuse.
Domestic violence complaints will have to be lodged at a women's police station, we can assist you with this.
