I live in Navi Mumbai on rent in a 2BHk flat. Last month our landlord sold the flat in which we live and asked us to vacate the flat. We told him that right now we are not in condition to shift but we will vacate the flat before 30th April. Any way he sold the flat to someone. We renewed our rent agreement in September 2020 and it is valid for 2years. Now we have to vacate the flat in April but still our landlord is asking to renew the agreement with the new owner but we dont want to pay again the registration fees and waste our 1day. Please let us know whether our current registered rent agreement is valid or not.

A.Hi,
The registered rent agreement is binding on both the parties. Your agreement is still valid and hence admissible in court too. If you don't want to vacate the place, you can reach out to court for help. since both the parties had registered the agreement by free consent, the owner cannot ask you to vacate the place without reasonable objections. Thank You

A.Hi,
The current agreement will be valid. You can claim damages from the landlord for breach of contract.
