I buyed a cigarette at a panshop and the police called me and took my photo, I did not smoke or lit the cigarette. They took my number as well. First they said its a cigarette challan and I have to pay online as they took my phone number. Later they called me and the cop is asking me to come and meet him near Nampally exhibition to get rid of the petty case. When I asked them that you said to pay online, he responded," those were uneducated constables they dont know, you have to come and pay". He asked to upload adhar on whatsapp I didn't. And since then he has been calling me once in a while and asking me to come pay the challan. Now what should I do?

A.Just don't go and they have to raise a challan let them do so and you pay that later. You going to meet them might put you in some danger.

A.Hi,
If you didn't smoke in an prohibited area, the police officers cannot issue you a smoking challan. If you are of legal age, then you can purchase a cigarette. There is no illgeality or or any legal offence in your action. The police just seem to want to coerce you into paying them a bribe. Lodge a complain against such officers in the SP office regarding the conduct of such officers along with call recordings.

A.Hi,
You cannot be fined for buying a cigarette, if you are of legal age and you didn't smoke in the prohibited place. The police personnel are basically asking you to pay a bribe. You can record their calls and forward it to the SP Office. You can lodge a complaint with the SP office.
