A 23 years girl had one relationship, she broke up with him and went into second relationship with another guy. In second relationship, the current lover asked the girl to give money, she took loans from bank, her gold and money given to him. As time pass, she is unable forget the ex-boy friend of previous relation and felt bad. After realizing her mistake in previous relation, abusing from current lover in daily life, she broke up the second relationship. Now the ex-lover who took loans, gold and money is not even paying back to her even after 1 year of breakup. In return he is blackmailing with photos and videos which taken in relation and saying that he will file a cheating case of breaking up the relationship. Is it really illegal, if a girl don't want to continue the live-in relation, then can't she breakup? Is there any law to file a case to get the money back? Above mentioned relationships are not marriage. These are live-in relation.

The Supreme court had in its decision in Lata Singh vs the State of U.P. provided that a live-in relationship between two consenting adults did not amount to any offence, with the obvious exception of adultery, even though it may be perceived as immoral.
Also in case filed by actor S Khushboo, the Supreme Court had said live-in relationships are permissible and the act of two adults living together cannot be considered illegal or unlawful although it may be perceived as immoral.

In India, the status of living partnerships is different. In this scenario, you have the option of filing a harassment complaint under section 394. Although live-in relationships are not deemed marriages, harassment in them, such as the one at hand, can be reported to the proper authorities.
Thank you very much. Please rate it if you found it useful.

The status of live relationships in India is different. In the present case, you can file a complaint for harassment under section 394. Live-in relationships are not considered to be a marriage however harassment in a live-in relationships like the present one can be filed in the rightful police complaint.
