A.Depending upon facts of case you can file defamation case both civil and criminal. In civil defamation case you can claim damages also. You should wait till the period of appeal get expired and only thereafter you should proceed for filing defamation cases.

A.Dear client,
Every case between parties does not warrant defamation case to be filed against looser. There must be some moral , prestige, goodwill , reputation as being so high profile , huge money loss apprantly not remotely such case if court finds to be adjudged then only be contested. However filing is not restricted against party.
Thanks

A.Hi,
You can sue him for defamation if his intention was to defame you and not otherwise. You have to prove in the court that he with mala fide intention had filed a case against you with an intent to defame you.

A.Hi,
You can register a defamation case against him only if his intention was to defame you by suing you in court. You can give a police complaint first and prove in court that his intention was malafide.
