Sir my brother in law taken dowry and he has sent a lawyer notice that he has not taken any single rupee he and his family tarourched my sister and my family

A.To give opinion, it is necessary to scrutinize such legal notice sent by your Brother in law. If physical and mental cruelty are exercised upon your sister, then it is necessary for your sister to take necessary legal steps under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code,1860 as well as under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 .
