I stay in Jamnagar Gujarat. I am not a farmer.

1. Can I take agricultural land on lease? If so, are there any formalities?

2. I want to do vermi compost production on leased land. Can I do it?

3. What are the taxes involved in this business?

A.Dear Client
Here are your answers;
1. You can take agricultural land on lease if the land owner has provided his consent and agreed for that then there is no issue. Formalities will include executing the lease agreement and getting is registered.
2. Yes, nut it depends on two thins- a) Permission from the farmer b) NOC from the local authorities as they might object it.
3. Taxes would be related to your income/ profit and if employees are there then there TDS. For any local tax to be paid you have to find out from the local authorities.

In Gujarat, the leasing laws vary depending on the region and for vermi compost production business, one needs to take land for lease from 10 to 15 years. so, consider the region in which you want to take lease and proceed further. taxes will be implicated based on the income from the business.
