Took money from 1 person promising him job Took money from 1 person promising him job

i took money from 1 person(i was set to be middle person between him and the giver), i took money from 1 person promising him job, but the person who said he'll do it vanished all of a sudden, i took the blame as i submitted my proofs to him, by taking 3 years time, i returned his amount which i took, but the person now is demanding me the amount with interest for the past 3 years, which is unbearable for me, what could be the best resolution for this??

A.Dear Sir,
First you should not admit having taken the said amount for securing job for him. You have already returned back the said amount and he cannot do anything.
