I have been living since the past 1 year, my rent agrement is about to expire in 1 month, i want to stay here but the property manager has said that they will make the rent 19000 and before it was 15000. We dont have any contact of the owner. He said that he will make the rent 16000 if we give him a brokerage charge again of 16000. In the agreement it was written that rent will be increased by 5% every year. There is no contact number of the owner. What can be done?

A.Dear Client

You can send a written notice to the property manager stating that you want to renew the agreement at the original rent of 15000, and that you are willing to accept the 5% increase as per the agreement. If the manager refuses, you can approach the Rent Control Office in your area. Please consult a lawyer to understand best possible options for you.
