My Daughter died in May 2021 due to covid . She had a son aged 3 years at that time . My son in law married again in Dec 2022. Now they (My son in-law & his new wife) are very adamant & not allowing us to meet my grandson (whose age is now 5 years) who is staying with them. We just to meet my grandson once / twice in a week , and hope that my grandson is allowed to come to our home also. Please suggest / advice what to do.

A.Dear Client,

Thank you for reaching out.

In the case of Yeluguri Andalu vs Maragoni Sandeep Goud, the Telengana High Court has stated that grand-parents play an impressive role in a child's life which compliments with the role of the parents. On considering the opinion of this Court, it is clear that the grandson cannot be deprived of meeting his grandparents at the behest and the father cannot restrict the grandparents from doing so.

The Courts have stated on various instances depending on the facts and circumstances of the case that grandparents must be allowed to meet their grandchildren. You can seek the help of a professional mediators who are organizations that help resolve family issues, if the situation persists.

Regards,
