A.Dear Client.
As per the provision of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Rules 1989, once a vehicle is sold through receipt of money, the purchaser has to submit the statutory forms with the Registering Authority/RTO concerned within 30 days from the date of sale for transfer of ownership and change of address in the RC of the Vehicle.. Without accessing the present status of the vehicle which is now easily available online, you made a mistake that may put you in trouble. In case the Seller/third party agency is not cooperating with you, inform the matter ASAP in writing to the concerned RA/RTO furnishing the details of the vehicle and the copy of RC and other documents available with you and take a receipt of the same, better to send written application by Speed Post to download the delivery status from India Post. This action may save you from any kind of litigation if arises out of a sold-out vehicle running unregistered in the name of the new owner on the road.
