Theft of cheque Theft of cheque

One of the 2 cheques which was issued by to me in 2007 by my brother in law in exchange of a transaction was stolen by a friend of my husband back in 2009.My brother in law had only filled cash and signed it while the date was written on it by me.
Later in 2009 this friend of my husband filed a fake complaint against my brother in law stating that he paid 4 lakhs to the latter in return for a job and my brother in law have to pay the amount back as he cheated him.
My husband and another colleague of him who are very influential are supporting this friend.Later they didn't continue the case after 2010.
Later this friend had started to create problems in our family too..Is ir possible for me to file a complaint in the court against this friend of my husband for stealing the cheque from my home and for filing such a fake complaint in 2009 against my brother in law.I have with me the other cheque with the following cheque no: brother in law issued to me back in 2007 and the details of the transactions for which brother in law had issued two cheques
