I have a marriage certificate taken from Local Panchayat Body, but the names of my mother along with in laws are incorrect. We need to correct it for Visa Purpose. But unfortunately Panchayat is not agreeing to correct the in law name saying lack of documents. Is it possible to take a Marriage certificate from Registrar office directly. Will this have any consequences? Can please someone advice.

A.Dear Client,
A marriage certificate issued by the Registrar, i.e, Marriage Officer under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and Spl. Marriage Act, 1954 is more authentic and acceptable for all purposes. The territorial jurisdiction of the Marriage Officer is made and notified on the basis of the respective Police Station. So you need to find out the address of MO based on the nearest PS. Reach out to the office of the concerned Marriage Officer for first-hand information and based on the said information you need to make an application for registration of marriage along with all the required documents. A nominal registration fee is payable for processing the registration of marriage.

A.Dear client,

If you have encountered issues with the marriage certificate issued by the Local Panchayat Body, and they are unwilling to correct the incorrect names, you may explore obtaining a marriage certificate from the Registrar office directly. When obtaining a marriage certificate from the Registrar office, you will need to fulfill the necessary requirements and provide the correct information about the parties involved in the marriage, including your mother and in-laws' names. Ensure that all relevant documents and proofs are provided accurately to avoid any discrepancies.
Before proceeding, consult with a lawyer who specializes in family law and documentation related to marriage certificates. They can advise you on the proper procedure, the documentation needed, and whether obtaining a new marriage certificate will affect the validity or recognition of the previous one issued by the Local Panchayat Body.
