I purchased an old property which is having a two separate electric connection with same consumer name and single property one is LT connection for house hold and second is HT 3 phase industrial connection for flour mill. At the time of purchase the seller showed me the pending bills of rs 4696/- for low tension connection and rs 13900/- for high tension connection so I purchased the property and paid the total bill of LT connection i.e. 5120/- and Rs. 15500/- for HT connection but afterwords the electricity company had given the total pending bill for( 3 phase) disconnected HT meter for rs.65000/- including previous arrears and said that if the all bills are not paid then both connection will disconnected and civil suit and disconnect the both the meters LT whose total bill was paid and Ht which bill is pending and recovered as charge on the property. what should I do ? Can company disconnect both connection as on is fully paid? Can company put charge over property?

A.Sir, the answer to your reply is two phase.

1. How to get rid of the Electricity company ?

Sir, as you are the owner of the property now, so it becomes your responsibility to pay all the dues which are due or pending. The company will not be bothered from whom did you take the property and did he or did he not cheat you. For the sake of records, you are the owner and the onus of payment lies on you. As such you need to pay the amount to the electricity company to avoid further hassle.

2. But how do you recover such money ?

The amount paid by you cannot be recovered from the electricity company. BUT, you can file a suit for recovery of money against the original vendor from whom you had purchased the said property. [provided you have all the evidences which show that you had purchased the property]

You thereafter need to show the court that you had paid all the dues which were told by the vendor and you had no idea about such further dues.
However you were bound to pay such dues or else your business would suffer irreparable loss and injury and for saving your business you decided to pay the amount. [which technically should've been paid by the vendor] OR
If you had nay idea about such further dues you would not have agreed to purchase that property.
The court after being satisfied shall pass an order against the vendor to reimburse the amount you have paid to the electricity company [with or without compensation].

Hope this helped

A.Dear Sir,
Just deposit the amount and take an injunction against the electricity company. File another suit for recovery of such amount from the vendor.
