A.Dear Client,
The pop-up message you encountered claiming to be from the Delhi Police Cyber Crime Bureau is likely a scam. It is a common type of online scam where cybercriminals try to trick individuals into paying money or providing personal information by pretending to be law enforcement or government agencies.

Here are a few reasons why you should not be concerned about this message:

Legitimate authorities don't typically issue fines through browser pop-ups: Legitimate law enforcement agencies usually follow a formal process if someone is suspected of committing a crime. They do not issue fines or warnings through unsolicited pop-up messages.

No real consequences: The fact that you closed the pop-up and your browser is working normally suggests that it was a scam. Legitimate government actions would not be resolved simply by closing a browser window.

Scare tactics: Scammers often use scare tactics to pressure individuals into taking immediate action. They may threaten legal consequences, but their goal is to get you to pay money or reveal personal information.

No visit from the police: If it has been six days since the encounter and no one from the police has come to your house, it is highly unlikely that this was a legitimate warning.

To further reassure yourself, you can take the following steps:

Run a Malware Scan: Perform a full malware scan on your computer to ensure that your system is not infected. Scammers sometimes use pop-up messages to distribute malware.

Ignore and Block: Ignore any further pop-up messages of this nature, and consider installing an ad blocker or pop-up blocker to prevent similar encounters in the future.

Use Caution Online: Be cautious when browsing websites, especially those that offer content of questionable legality. Stick to reputable websites and avoid clicking on suspicious links.

Keep Your System Updated: Ensure that your operating system, web browser, and antivirus software are up to date to help protect against online threats.
Thank you.
