A.Dear Client,
There is neither any concept of RTO Agent nor any person is officially appointed as such or given a license by the Motor Vehicles Deptt to handle the matter/jobs related to motor vehicles. The people who handle the motor vehicle-related jobs claiming themselves as Agents are either registered law clerks or other persons who engaged themselves voluntarily to earn money from the source. In the year 2011, a proposal was made by the then RTO, Mumbai to enlist agents who would provide services at subsidized rates to citizens applying for new licenses, registration and transfer of vehicles. This move comes after several complaints about unscrupulous agents who were fleecing customers by charging exorbitant fees from the stakeholders. But, there is no update of the said movement as of now. With the introduction of online service for motor vehicle-related jobs, all details of motor vehicle including GST chargeable on the service is now easily accessible to the stakeholders decreasing the monopoly services of so-called Agents.

A.Dear Client,
RTO agent services are legal in India. Many people hire RTO agents to assist with various tasks related to vehicle registration, licensing, and other related processes. However, the business should comply with relevant laws and regulations. The fees charged by an RTO agent for their services can vary depending on the services provided and the location. There may not be a fixed or standardized fee, and the agent and the client usually negotiate the service charges. The charges can vary based on factors like the complexity of the task and the location. RTO agent services in India are subject to GST. The GST rate applicable may depend on the specific nature of services and the total annual turnover of the business..
