Defamation and fake crime allegations

My cousin sister has stolen gold at her own house and gave it to her boyfriend then her boyfriend ran away with it basically cheated her . she confessed to me about it. I told it at home to my family about it and then they told my cousin's parents about it but when they confronted her she blamed me that I suggested her to steal it from the house which i didnt do . I have proofs in watsapp chat where she confessed me about the crime she did. I have shown it to my family and i asked them to clean my name from it with in a week and ask her to apologize me they said they will try but i fear because she defamed me for the crime which i didnt committ so i needed your legal advice on this i am frustrated . I really didnt do anything still i am blamed for this. Her family and she is defaming me and telling evryone that made their daughter rob the house. I have proofs where its proven i m innocent and she has no proofs to prove me that i asked her to do this. Still her parents beliving her and degrading and defaming me my reputation. If she didnt apologize than what legal action i can take againts her and her family for defaming and making me part of a crime which i didnt commit . Please let me know
