Police or Court
I want to punish people who took money from me, not paying back & are absconding.
Which way should I go?
Police - who can arrest them and out of fear of arresting, they may return it.
Court - File a criminal case and get them imprisoned, I may or may not get my money.
Which is a better option?
How much time & cost it will take, any guess?
If police is not registering FIR, can I do online complaint? Is online complaint is equally treated as FIR? What steps police will follow after receiving online complaint?

A.your fundamental are wrong.
if you approach police, the FIR reaches court and case gets registered.
If you File a criminal case and get them imprisoned then also it is fear of arresting only means police.
online complaint is same as normal complaint.
Hope this clarifies,

A.Depending on quantum of money and what evidence you are having for the transaction. You can file both civil as well as criminal case. In civil recovery case you will have to pay court fees based on recovery amount.

A.Hi,
First you can send them a legal notice to recover your money and if they don't then you can file a complaint in the police station regarding the same. Once they will be arrested you can file before the magistrate to keep them in custody as they might abscond.
