Car accident - Victim Injured - Case in court Car accident - Victim Injured - Case in court

Accident happened on the roads of NH-30 (near Maihar, Madhya Pradesh) while I was returning from Assam to Bangalore in November 2020. Person got injured and was immediately taken to hospital and given treatment. I had paid for the victim's treatment completely. Case has been registered in local police station and I had been summoned once to court on Jan 8 2021. Actually, one local guy helped us to return back to Bangalore and told us he will inform about case hearing and car insurance claims.
I was informed on Jan 8 that case is being closed. As i am not fluent in Hindi, the person who helped was communicating in place of me to the lawyer. I dint even get the FIR number from him.
Recently, he called me saying that I need to attend the court again. I asked if i could get lawyer's contact number instead he made me talk to him on his phone.
And i was informed that court hearing is on Jul 23rd. Still i didn't get any details of case number or anything. I asked but no proper response.

So I went online and found that actual hearing date is on Aug 23rd. I had booked tickets for Jul 23rd ( i have to travel from Andhra (my native) to Madhya Pradesh) and couldn't go because of family emergency. Now, they are asking me to pay lawyer fees (which i would but i am not sure if I have been given proper information or not) and court fees to move the date to some other date. I am not even sure if I should ask why wrong date was informed to me in the first place.. What should I do. Please help me.

A.Hi,
You should always appoint and instruct a lawyer who is gonna appear on your behalf personally. You made a mistake by allowing a third person to appoint a lawyer who would represent you. It is advised that you appoint a local lawyer yourself and proceed with the case personally until it is settled.

A.Hi,
You should appoint and consult with a local lawyer who would help you out in your case by getting the exact details and case hearing dates. Thereon, after knowing the exact status of the case you can settle the case with that local guy. Never appoint a lawyer with a third person. Instruct the lawyer personally.
