Marriage to PIO (Person of Indian Origin) in India Marriage to PIO (Person of Indian Origin) in India

Hi. My fiancé is a naturalized US citizen. He holds an Indian birth certificate. We belong to the same religion and are planning to get married in India in a traditional way. What will be the marriage registration process and how long does it take? Thanks in advance.

A.Dear Client,

If you are Hindus then you do not have to follow the Special Marriage Act process wherein there is a waiting period of 30 days. As Hindus you can have the traditional marriage and inform the Marriage Registrar about it and he will come to your venue on the same date and register the marriage.
IF you not Hindu then you will have to apply to the Marriage Registrar under the Special Marriage Act and get it registered. Yes once you apply you will have to wait for 30 days.

A.Dear client,
You will have to go through the Special marriage Act by approaching the registrar office. The process is to just approach and fill applications, show proof of identity and get witnesses to sign by paying the requisite fees. Should not take more than a month.
Thank you.

A.Registered marriage can be done at the office of the marriage registrar of the concerned jurisdictional area/city/district where you are currently residing in India as per you identity documents. Your marriage will have to be registered under the Special Marriage Act,1954. You will have to approach the office of marriage registrar with your fiancee and file application with necessary documents (photographs, affidavits as may be required on Rs 100/- stamp paper mostly, self attested photocopies of identity documents of age proof of both and self attested photocopies of address proof documents of both and witnesses identity documents and check if any other documents are required and also confirm process fees if any and how it is to be paid). After you file the application with documents you will be given a date after around 30 days to appear with your fiancee. During this time they confirm from their end if there are any issues/objections by anyone and if no objection found than on GoDaddy ven date you and your spouse along with witnesses can appear before the marriage registrar and sign their register and your thum impression will be scanned and photographs will be taken and thereafter you will be given marriage certificate. Thank you.

"if no objection found than on GoDaddy ven date you and your spouse along with witnesses"..in this part kindly ignore 'GoDaddy ven' words as they are typographical error. Sorry for the inconvenience caused if any. Thank you.
